Summary
Small FDA-regulated device boilers and autoclave pressure vessels are off the list.
The bill adds two new items to the list of equipment that does not have to follow the state's boiler registration and inspection rules. It covers small boilers built into medical devices that the federal Food and Drug Administration regulates, within set size and pressure limits, and unfired pressure vessels inside autoclaves. Owners and operators of that equipment, such as hospitals, clinics and labs, would no longer have to register those units or have them inspected under the state boiler chapter, starting September 1, 2025.
