Summary

Reasons come every time, not only when the customer asks.

The bill makes insurers give a written statement of reasons every time they decline, cancel, or refuse to renew a covered policy, instead of only when the customer asks. It also requires insurers that turn down an application for liability or commercial property insurance to mail or deliver written notice of the declination. It touches insurance applicants, policyholders, and the insurers who serve them, and the change applies to applications and policies made or renewed on or after September 1, 2025.
