Summary

Mammograms, bone mass tests, colorectal screenings. Covered, and now no prior approval.

The bill bars health insurers from requiring prior approval before covering several services Texas law already requires them to cover: mammograms and breast imaging, breast reconstruction after mastectomy, inpatient care after mastectomy, diabetes equipment, supplies and training, bone mass tests, prostate exams, and colorectal cancer screenings. It touches health benefit plan issuers and the patients and doctors who use these mandated services. Starting with plans issued or renewed on or after January 1, 2026, patients can get these services covered without waiting on insurer preauthorization.
