Summary

Counties lose their say over the extra periods.

This bill lets licensed retail fireworks sellers anywhere in Texas sell during seven set windows each year, instead of two statewide windows plus extra windows that needed county approval. It touches fireworks retailers, buyers, and county commissioners courts, which lose the say they had over the extra periods and the early-May sales near the Texas-Mexico border. On the ground, sales around early March, mid-April, Memorial Day, Diwali and May 1 to 5 become allowed statewide by default starting September 1, 2025.
