Summary

Fundamentals for trainees. Principles-and-practice plus a Texas-specific test for full registration.

The bill rewrites how Texas licenses land surveyors, splitting the exams into a fundamentals test for surveyors-in-training and a principles-and-practice test plus a Texas-specific test for full registration. It touches surveyor applicants, the existing surveying advisory committee, and the state engineering and surveying board. On the ground, the advisory committee can send the board written reports and must keep a public record of its meetings, the board must issue advisory opinions on the surveying law too, and new exam rules must be adopted by December 1, 2025.
