Summary

Certification tied to passing them.

The bill rewrites how Texas certifies surveyors-in-training and registers professional land surveyors, requiring the board to set three named exams by rule and tying certification to passing them. It touches people seeking surveying credentials and the Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, whose existing surveying advisory committee gains power to send reports to the board and must keep public meeting records. Starting September 1, 2025, new applicants must pass a fundamentals exam, a principles and practice exam and a Texas-specific exam, and the board must adopt the rules by December 1, 2025.
