Summary
Used to be just autoimmune diseases and certain blood disorders.
The bill widens an existing Texas insurance rule that limits prior authorization to once a year for drugs treating autoimmune diseases and certain blood disorders, so it now covers any chronic health condition. It touches health insurers that offer prescription drug benefits and patients with conditions expected to last at least a year that need ongoing care or limit daily activities. Insurers could not make those patients get more than one prior authorization a year for the same chronic-condition drug on plans issued or renewed on or after January 1, 2026.
