Caption from analyzed text · version I.

Summary

Medically necessary, children under 13, plans that already cover anesthesia.

The bill requires many Texas health insurance plans that already cover general anesthesia to also cover medically necessary general anesthesia for dental work on children under 13. It applies to insurers, HMOs, and a long list of state and group plans, but only when the child cannot safely have the dental work without anesthesia for a documented physical, mental, or medical reason and a qualified provider gives the anesthesia. Families of these children could get the anesthesia part of dental care covered starting with plans issued or renewed on or after January 1, 2026, though the plans still do not have to cover the dental work itself.
