Report due September 1, 2026. The work group and the law expire in 2027.

The bill orders the Health and Human Services Commission to set up a work group to study whether Texas could run a statewide or regional registry listing open beds at inpatient mental health facilities. The group's members are named by the governor, lieutenant governor, speaker and the executive commissioner, with guaranteed seats for the Texas Hospital Association, Texas Medical Association and Texas Nurses Association plus hospital representatives and other experts.
