Summary

Fewer people can ask the tax assessor-collector for a hearing.

This bill narrows who can ask a county tax assessor-collector for a hearing after the state refuses, suspends, or revokes a vehicle title. People cannot get a hearing if the title involves a salvage or nonrepairable vehicle, a vehicle tied up in pending litigation, a vehicle a court has awarded to someone else, or a vehicle held as evidence in a criminal investigation, and applicants must swear in an affidavit that none of these apply. County assessor-collectors must deny barred applications and do not have to send notice or hold a hearing on them, starting September 1, 2025.
