Summary

Give $3 or more when applying or renewing. Grants go to nonprofits supporting DPS employees.

The bill has the Department of Public Safety run a grant program that gives money to nonprofits supporting DPS employees and the families of employees killed or injured on duty. It lets anyone applying for or renewing a driver's license, commercial driver's license, or ID card add a voluntary gift of $3 or more, and it creates a dedicated state account to hold that money. Starting with applications on or after January 1, 2026, license forms and the DPS website must offer the donation option, and DPS must set grant rules, with grants subject to audit by the comptroller.
