Summary

“Is found” becomes where the person is located at filing.

The bill changes the list of counties where someone can file an application for court-ordered mental health services for a proposed patient. It replaces the county where the person "is found" with the county where the person "is located at the time the application is filed" and adds the county where the person was apprehended under the emergency detention chapter. This touches proposed patients, county clerks and courts, and gives filers more counties to choose from starting with applications filed on or after September 1, 2025.
