Summary

Recommendations due December 1, 2026. Abolished September 1, 2027. Nothing changes unless a later bill acts.

The bill creates a governor's task force, attached to the Texas Education Agency, to study how early childhood education and child care are governed in Texas. The task force includes the heads of the Health and Human Services Commission, the Texas Education Agency and the Texas Workforce Commission, plus governor appointees from Head Start, state health services, and business, nonprofit and community groups. It must send the Legislature policy and budget recommendations by December 1, 2026, and is abolished September 1, 2027, so nothing changes for families or child-care providers unless a later bill acts on the report.
