Person-centered plans and community resources for those leaving prison.
The bill renames the prison system's program for offenders with intellectual or developmental disabilities and orders the Texas Department of Criminal Justice to find community resources and build a person-centered reentry plan for each of those offenders. It touches inmates with these disabilities who are leaving prison, and the department staff who handle their release. The department may now take gifts and grants for all of these services, but it may not spend appropriated money on residential housing help for offenders serving time for the serious offenses listed in Section 508.149(a).
