THE TEXT

Bill text, introduced version (I)
The ban covers only businesses that have shareholders. Companies organized without shareholders, such as member-owned or partnership firms, fall outside it even when they assign the same scores.

THE TEXT
…“conducts business in this state may not assign an environmental,”…
Bill text, introduced version (I)
The caption promises to prohibit the use of these scores, but the text only bars assigning one. Nothing stops a lender from using a score that someone outside the ban assigned.
