Summary

Government service contracts can do the same.

The bill lets state agencies, cities, counties and other local governments accept years of work experience in place of a college degree when they hire, and lets government contracts for services do the same. It reaches public employers, job seekers without degrees, and contractors who provide services to government. On the ground, the swap is optional, but any employer that uses it must say so in its job ads, and experience can never replace a required license or certification.
