Summary

The Texas Medical Board writes the rules.

The bill adds magnetic resonance imaging physics to the list of medical physics specialties that require a state license, and defines it as the branch dealing with radiofrequency radiation and the equipment that produces it. It touches medical physicists who work with MRI equipment, plus the Texas Medical Board, which must write rules to carry out the change. Starting September 1, 2025, a medical physicist cannot practice MRI physics in Texas without holding a license for that specialty.
