Summary

They get Schedule C pay and hazardous duty pay.

The bill makes officers commissioned and employed by the Health and Human Services Commission's office of inspector general full peace officers under state law. It touches those investigators and the state pay system by putting them on the Schedule C law enforcement salary scale, making them eligible for hazardous duty pay, and covering them under the existing injury-leave rule for state officers. Starting September 1, 2025, these officers get law enforcement status, pay and benefits like other commissioned state officers.
