Summary

The ban narrows to licensed agents and workers’ comp insurers.

The bill loosens the conflict-of-interest rules that decide who can sit on the board of the Texas Mutual Insurance Company. It narrows the ban from anyone licensed under the Insurance Code to licensed insurance agents, and from ties to any licensed company to ties with insurers that write workers' compensation insurance in Texas. It also drops household members from the rule and covers only first-degree relatives instead of second-degree relatives, so more people with insurance-industry ties can serve on the board.
