relating to the provision by the Texas Commission on Environmental
Quality to the pertinent state representative and state senator of
notice of certain administrative actions of the commission.
Penalty notice or proposed settlement goes to the district’s representative and senator too.
The bill requires the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to notify the local state representative and state senator when it gives notice of a penalty or proposes a settlement order in an enforcement case. It touches the commission and the legislators whose districts include the place where a violation happened. Lawmakers will now get direct word of environmental penalties and proposed settlements in their areas, on top of the existing Texas Register notice.
