Summary

Schools now pay both shares into the Teacher Retirement System.

This bill lowers what a public school must pay into the Teacher Retirement System when it rehires a retired teacher. Today the school pays both the employee share and the state share that would be owed for an active member. Under the bill, the school pays only the amount by which those shares exceed the system's estimated normal cost, and pays nothing if normal cost is higher, starting with the 2025-2026 school year.
