Summary

Your own blood, or donors you pick, for a scheduled procedure.

The bill requires every licensed Texas hospital to let a patient give their own blood, or use blood from donors they pick, for a scheduled medical procedure. It touches hospitals and patients who want to avoid the general blood supply. Starting September 1, 2025, a patient who tells the hospital at least 72 hours ahead, and gives a donor list for directed donations, must be allowed to use that blood.
