Summary

Several request forms drop Social Security numbers.

This bill updates the rules for which Texas agencies can pull criminal history records and what they must send to get them, including dropping Social Security numbers from several request forms. It touches applicants and license holders at agencies like the pharmacy board, medical board, insurance department, environmental commission, motor vehicles department and state fire marshal, plus owners and managers of health care providers in public benefits programs. On the ground, more people tied to licensed businesses and benefits providers can be background-checked, pharmacy license renewals can require fingerprints, and one counseling-type 'temporary' license is renamed an 'associate' license, starting September 1, 2025.
