Summary

Counties over 250,000 people may hire their own purchasing agent instead.

The bill lets the commissioners court in a county with more than 250,000 people abolish the existing appointed county purchasing agent office by order. The court can then hire its own employee to serve as purchasing agent under a different section of the purchasing law. This shifts control of county purchasing in those larger counties to the commissioners court, and the outgoing agent can be rehired.
