Summary

About 16 acres for 99 years.

The bill orders the Department of State Health Services to lease about 16 acres of the Austin State Hospital grounds to Travis County for 99 years. The county pays no rent; its only price is using the land mainly for a public purpose, and the lease ends and the land goes back to the state if the county stops doing that for more than 180 straight days. The county may run public amenities and build or tear down improvements on the land, and the bill waives three existing state statutes that would otherwise govern this kind of transfer.
