Summary
About 16 acres, for 99 years.
The bill orders the Department of State Health Services to lease about 16 acres of the Austin State Hospital land to Travis County for 99 years. The county pays nothing in rent; it only has to use the land mainly for a public purpose, and the lease ends and the land goes back to the state if the county stops doing so for more than 180 straight days. The county may run public amenities there and build or tear down improvements, and certain state laws that normally govern leases and sales of state land are switched off for this deal.
