Summary

Standard format, reviewed every two years, posted online with a glossary.

The bill rewrites the law on the traffic-stop and other incident data that police agencies already report to the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement, requiring the commission to collect it, set a standard reporting format and quality rules with state police and police research groups, review those rules every two years, and post the data online with a glossary. It touches local and state law enforcement agencies that submit the reports, the commission that manages the data, and members of the public and researchers who want to read it. The commission must also study how to improve the data, cut duplicate reporting, and possibly track pedestrian detentions, then report to state leaders by January 1, 2027.
