Summary

The Public Utility Commission, ERCOT and utilities hand it over electronically.

The bill lets the Office of Public Utility Counsel, the state office that speaks for home and small business ratepayers, request and get electricity market data for free and in electronic form. It reaches the Public Utility Commission, ERCOT and electric utilities, which must hand over data on reliability, generation adequacy, transmission planning and grid resiliency. Data the office receives stays confidential whenever it would be confidential in the commission's hands, and the change starts September 1, 2025.
