Summary

Nine members, all serving at the commission’s pleasure.

This bill moves the power to appoint the nine members of the state's public transportation advisory committee from the governor, lieutenant governor and House speaker to the Texas Transportation Commission. It touches the committee's current and future members, who would now serve at the pleasure of the commission no matter who first appointed them. On the ground, the commission alone picks and can remove every member, and it must fill any existing vacancies by January 1, 2026.
