Summary

Commercial service airports, as far as federal rules allow.

The bill rewrites a Transportation Code section so that certain commercial service airports can qualify for state aviation financial help, including a spot in the state's aviation capital improvement program, as far as federal funding rules allow. It covers airports in Texas-Mexico border counties with fewer than 300,000 people, and airports run jointly with a public agency of another state that serve a county next to the state line. More of these smaller border and state-line airports can compete for state airport project money, starting immediately if two-thirds of each house approves, or otherwise on September 1, 2025.
