THE TEXT
…“must be conducted by the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory”
Bill text, introduced version (I)
The bill gives one named lab the exclusive right to do all state-required deer disease testing and shuts out every other lab, which the general caption does not mention. The lab is a public one, so the favor is real but modest.

Summary
Every other lab is shut out, whatever other law says. Each result needs a second reader.
The bill requires that every postmortem chronic wasting disease test on deer, done under the Parks and Wildlife Code or its rules, be run by the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory, no matter what any other law says. It touches deer breeders, hunters, landowners and any other lab that now does this testing, and it requires at least two lab employees to read each result. Starting September 1, 2025, the Texas A&M lab becomes the only place these tests can be done, and each result needs a second reader.
