Summary

Operational control of the border, shared equipment and personnel.

The bill adds new items that any interstate border security compact Texas joins must cover, such as gaining operational control of the Texas-Mexico border, enforcing federal immigration laws, and sharing equipment, software and personnel. It also adds a definition of "illegal alien" to the chapter and touches Texas and any other states that sign such a compact. The new required terms apply only to compacts entered into after the bill takes effect, so any compact signed earlier stays under the old rules.
