Summary

Lost wills, estate inventories, transferred cases and surviving spouses.

This bill makes a set of technical changes to Texas probate law, covering how transferred cases move between counties, how lost wills are proved, what estate inventories must list, and what surviving spouses can do with community property. It touches probate courts, county clerks, estate executors and administrators, temporary administrators, and surviving spouses. On the ground, original wills must be physically delivered when a case moves to another county at the requesting party's cost, inventories must say whether the decedent was married and which property is separate or community, temporary administrators get a seven-day deadline to file proof of notice, and certain courts must send orders to all parties through the electronic filing system.
