Summary

Managed assigned counsel programs join the short list.

The bill adds managed assigned counsel programs to the short lists of people and offices allowed to see confidential juvenile records. It touches children in juvenile court, the programs that pick and oversee their appointed lawyers, and the courts, clerks, probation departments and prosecutors that hold the records. Starting September 1, 2025, those programs can get the records, including older ones, to check whether a child qualifies for a free lawyer and to manage appointed counsel once a lawyer is requested.
