Summary

Changes the rule for drawing blood in a neighboring county.

This bill changes the rule for carrying out a warrant to draw blood from a person suspected of drunk driving and related intoxication offenses in a county next to the one where the warrant was issued. Under current law, that blood warrant can only be carried out there by an officer who has arrest authority in that neighboring county; the bill lets any peace officer carry it out. It applies only to warrants issued on or after September 1, 2025, so an officer chasing a suspect across a county line no longer needs a local officer to serve the warrant.
