Summary

Agencies hand over reports within 14 business days of a request.

The bill requires a law enforcement agency to hand over all its reports, including witness statements and criminal history records, to the attorney general within 14 business days of a request. It touches police and sheriff agencies, the attorney general's crime victims' compensation program, and the people applying for that compensation. On the ground, claims get a firm deadline for the police paperwork, and the records the attorney general receives are shielded from public records requests.
