Summary

Card skimmers get company: fuel pump tampering devices and fuel theft.

This bill widens the job of the state's existing financial crimes intelligence center so it covers motor fuel theft and fuel pump tampering devices, not just card skimmers. It touches police and other government agencies, banks, card companies, colleges, merchants, and fuel stations that deal with skimmers or pump tampering. On the ground, the center must help these groups detect fuel pump devices and prevent fuel theft, may collect and share fuel theft information, must report on fuel theft, and its grant recipients may spend grant money on public outreach about fuel theft.
