Summary

90 days from the initial payment. Rules due within 30 days.

The bill puts a 90-day deadline on requests for mandatory mediation of out-of-network health bills, counted from the day the out-of-network provider gets an initial payment. It touches out-of-network providers and health plan issuers and administrators that use the state's mediation process, and it orders the insurance commissioner to write rules within 30 days. After it applies, a mediation request filed more than 90 days after that first payment is outside the window the bill sets, for services provided starting 30 days after the law takes effect.
