Summary
Parents also get suicide prevention materials, including on firearms and medication.
The bill requires public schools, when they notify a parent that their child was the alleged victim of bullying or was identified as at risk of suicide, to keep a record proving the parent was told. Schools must also hand those parents suicide prevention materials and information on limiting the child's access to means of suicide, including firearms and medication. The Texas Education Agency, working with the Health and Human Services Commission, picks those materials, and the rules apply starting with the 2025-2026 school year.
