Summary

Six tracts, 11.6 acres, at no charge, by December 31, 2025.

The bill orders the Texas Department of Transportation to give six tracts of state land in downtown Houston, about 11.6 acres in total, to the University of Houston by December 31, 2025, at no charge. The university may use the land only for a purpose that benefits the public interest of the state, and the land goes back to the department automatically if it is used for anything else. The bill tells the department to keep the transfer document after it is filed in the Fort Bend County property records, even though every tract is described as lying in Harris County.
