Summary

Skip the state commission, sue within two years, and juries can award more.

The bill widens the state definition of workplace sexual harassment, lets a worker sue an employer over it without first filing with the state commission, and removes the state's damage caps for those suits. It touches employers, labor unions, employment agencies, and workers who bring harassment claims, and it protects workers who speak up about harassment from retaliation. Workers can go straight to court within two years of the conduct, and juries can award larger compensatory and punitive damages, still subject to the general punitive damages limit in the Civil Practice and Remedies Code.
