Caption from analyzed text · version I.

Summary

No key, no police report within 24 hours, no cooperation, no waiver.

The bill adds a new situation in which a car rental company may cancel the damage waiver a renter paid for: when the rental car is stolen and the renter fails to return the ignition key, fails to file a police report within 24 hours of discovering the theft, and fails to fully cooperate with the investigation. It touches rental car companies and the people who rent cars from them and buy damage waivers. Starting with rental agreements signed on or after September 1, 2025, a renter whose car is stolen could be left paying for the loss if they do not meet those steps.
