Summary

Two more kinds of stopped vehicles get the slow-down treatment.

This bill adds two kinds of vehicles to the Texas law that requires drivers to move over or slow down when passing certain stopped or working vehicles. The new vehicles are those used by animal control officers or other authorized people removing animals or carcasses from the road, and those used by local government employees writing parking tickets, as long as they use approved warning lights. Starting September 1, 2025, drivers who fail to move over or slow down for these vehicles face the same offense that already applies to passing emergency vehicles, tow trucks and road crews.
