Summary

Local governments could not impose stricter health and safety standards on covered child-care homes.

The bill bars cities, counties and other local governments from imposing health and safety rules on licensed child-care homes and on registered or listed family homes that are stricter than state law or state Health and Human Services Commission rules. It touches home-based child-care providers and the local governments that now regulate them. On the ground, state standards become the ceiling for these home providers, and any tougher local health or safety rule for them can no longer be enforced.
