More cities and counties can apply for the offset.
The bill widens which cities and counties can apply for state aid that offsets the property tax revenue they lose to the disabled veteran tax exemption. It adds counties next to a county with a U.S. military base, and any city located in a base county or a neighboring county, where before only base counties and cities next to a base qualified. More local governments around military bases can seek these payments starting with the fiscal year ending in the 2025 tax year.
