Summary

Offsets property tax lost to the disabled veteran exemption.

The bill widens which local governments can apply for state disabled veteran assistance payments, which help offset property tax revenue lost to the disabled veteran exemption. Eligibility now covers any city wholly or partly in a county that hosts a U.S. military base, any city in a county next to that county, and those neighboring counties themselves; before, it covered only cities next to a base and counties holding a base. More cities and counties near military bases can ask the state for this aid, starting with their fiscal year that ends in the 2025 tax year.
