Summary
Payments cover property tax lost to disabled veteran relief.
The bill widens which cities and counties can apply for state disabled veteran assistance payments, which help local governments that lose property tax revenue because of tax relief for disabled veterans. Today, the aid covers counties with a U.S. military installation and cities next to one; the bill adds counties next to those counties and any city located in either kind of county. Starting with the local fiscal year that ends in the 2025 tax year, more cities and counties near military bases can ask the state for these payments.
