After that, a doctor’s referral. Board rules due December 1, 2025.
The bill lets a physical therapist treat a patient without a doctor's referral for up to 20 consecutive business days instead of 10. It touches physical therapists, their patients, and the referring practitioners who now see referral requests later. The separate exception in subsection (a-2) is repealed, and the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners must write rules by December 1, 2025.
