This bill lets a physical therapist treat a patient without a referral for up to 20 consecutive business days, up from 10. It touches physical therapists, their patients, and the doctors and other practitioners who now write referrals, and it removes a separate subsection of the current rule. After the 20 days, the therapist still needs a referral to keep treating, and the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners must adopt rules by December 1, 2025.
