Up to 20 consecutive business days without a doctor’s referral.
The bill lets a physical therapist treat a patient without a doctor's referral for up to 20 consecutive business days instead of 10. It touches physical therapists, their patients, and the doctors who write referrals. It also repeals a separate subsection that was an exception to the old limit, so after 20 business days the therapist must get a referral to keep treating, and the state board must write rules by December 1, 2025.
